GOLDIC – medical devices offer the physician a new, innovative procedure to treat his patients with an individual and regenerative therapy.

There are over a hundred mobile joints in the human body. Joints connect bones or cartilaginous structures and provide the mobility of the human body. Each joint consists of the articular surfaces of the involved bones, a joint line and a joint capsule. In conjunction with muscles, tendons and ligaments, the joints allow numerous movements of the human body – whether walking, running, jumping or just getting up in the morning.

Although joints differ from each other, there is a characteristic structure. A joint consists of articular surfaces, the joint capsule, a cavity and a sensitive layer of cartilage that coats the joint’s articulating (gliding) surfaces. The cartilage protects the bones against wear during movements. In addition, the cartilage acts as a buffer and absorbs hard impacts. In the knee joint, additional cartilage discs (menisci) provide the ideal interaction of the articular surfaces.

There is a gap between the articular surfaces containing a fluid, the gel-like synovial fluid. This synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and provides the cartilage with nutrients.

The joint is enclosed by the joint capsule. It consists of connective tissue and has a loose, inner and solid, outer layer. The outer layer has many nerves and blood vessels, in the inner layer are cells that produce synovial fluid. Basically, the joint capsule ensures that the joint surfaces only move in the intended direction to each other. Muscles, tendons and ligaments stabilize the joint and ensure movements and stresses of all kinds.



In general, one can distinguish degenerative joint diseases (osteoarthritis) and those with inflammatory components (arthritis).

The result of degenerative joint disease (osteoarthritis) is a progressive loss of cartilage, which leads to pain and a variety of joint damage.

In the case of arthritis, pain, overheating and swelling of the affected joint are typical.


Osteoarthritis is the progressive, age-related cartilage wear in joints. Basically, osteoarthritis can occur on any joint. Most often, however, it occurs on joints that are particularly stressed by body weight, for example, at the knee and at the hip.


Arthritis can have many causes. It can be triggered by a bacterial infection or caused by a metabolic disorder such as gout. The most common form is rheumatoid arthritis (rheumatism). In principle, any joint may be affected by inflammation, for example knee, shoulder, hip or finger joints. If only one joint is inflamed, one speaks of a monoarthritis, if several joints are affected one speaks of polyarthritis.


The bursae are located on particularly stressed parts of the body (hips, knees, elbows, etc.) in the area of the joints or in places where the skin, tendons or muscles lie directly against the bone. The bursae forms a sliding layer and a kind of buffer between hard and soft structures and thus ensure the mobility of the tissue layers against each other. Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursae causing pain.


The term “Compression Syndrome” stands for a limited function of the joint mobility, which is primarily caused by pain. In certain motions and positions, the space is insufficient to accommodate existing structures (e.g., nerves, vessels) without friction. In case of inflammation, there will be no possibility of expansion for the damaged tissue. The result of this pressure is usually damage to the compressed tissue.


Aim of a treatment is always to relieve the pain of patients and to restore their mobility as well as possible. In addition to the well-known classical treatment methods, physicians now have access to a novel medical device – GOLDIC.


With the help of the medical device GOLDIC SET 4 / Ortho & Sport, the doctor in charge stimulates the body’s own regenerative ability with the help of cytokines and growth factors. This is done by a significant increase of the gelsolin level, as well as an increase of various stem cell specific factors in the patients body. Through this “processing” and “return” of the enriched endogenous serum, the inflammation can be treated with minimal risk of side effects.

Using GOLDIC, a small amount of blood is withdrawn from the arm vein of the patient. The amount is about the same as needed for a “conventional” blood test. This blood is incubated in the presence of defined gold particles for 24 hours. Subsequently, the blood cells and the gold particles are separated from the serum by centrifugation. Only the processed, enriched serum is injected into the patient in four sessions over a period of approximately two weeks at the location of the complaints. A special filter prevents that gold particles will be supplied together with the serum to the patient.
